The power of us, humans.

I am worried about the direction this world is heading to. I read a story yesterday that gave me an extremely sad and fearful feeling. Injustice is the norm now. It is the norm towards anyone and anything, and that is horrific. We are human. What happened to that? We have a conscious as well as compassion. Or at least we used too. Because now, I believe many have lost that gift, the gift of love and care. They have become empty and dark inside, and those are the most people I fear for. As they have nothing to live for except for greed, hate, and selfishness.

Power and money, the essence of all evil that is spread upon this world. Why is it that some crave that much power and money? What about family, justice and happiness? What about purpose?

I put it upon myself to live every day aiming to make a difference. Not only for humans, but for anything that breathes. I call for change, from every living being. This evil around us, this injustice and inequality, will be forever a curse on our planet as well as on our children. Think about those you will leave behind. What will you leave them to? No ocean, no plants and trees, only guns and hatred?

Seven and a half billion people, yet they think of themselves as one weak being. They fear. But I do not blame them, as I also fear. But there comes a moment where it is important to remember your power as an individual. It is important to remember that if you rise, all will rise. And when that happens, the world will change. Those who make us fear will run. Those who make us fear will beg. And because we are human, we may forgive. But I would not blame us if we did not. I am aware I do not have this gift of forgiving those who have brought evil upon people and even inflicted fear on others. I do not forgive, because, they have lost their gift of being human, they have turned into just beings. They are empty and dark. And I shall never forgive those who are dark inside, unless it was not by choice, but as a result of also fear and injustice inflicted on them. I would only forgive, if they rise and find their humanity once again. If there will not be change now, it will never exist in our lifetime.

We have become careless, of not only those around us but also the planet in which we live in. Don’t get me wrong; I believe in hope and that change will come no matter what and when. Every single being will get exactly get what they deserve, whether good or bad. In fact, I am hope and YOU are hope. The children of this world are, and will always be hope. However, we have to fight for humanity. Fight for justice. Fight for equality. And most importantly, fight for freedom. It is important to realize that each action one takes every single day affects this fight. It is important to realize that you do not live alone. This is everyone’s fight. If you do not care about strangers, care about your family. If you do not care about humans, care about the planet. If you do not care about the planet, care about whomever you feel deeply towards. You are just passing along and you should leave a footprint that will take this world one step ahead and not one step back.

You will ask me then, what shall I do? I will tell you be good and be kind. Be strong and be courageous. Never give up and always have hope. Don’t ever accept ignorance and injustice. If you hold on to being human, you will do more than you could ever think or even imagine. As the gift of being human, is one, if not the only, greatest gift of all. Only then, you shall pass through pure and satisfied. And I can assure you my friend, that only then, this world will be forever ours.

An old man changed my life without knowing me or knowing he did

Right where I am sitting right now in a cafe, there is two huge sets of windows in front of me that are looking through a street where many pedestrians are walking, and there is an old man sitting next to me. He grabbed my attention because of, the difference between him, and every other person sitting in this room.

He is sitting with his cup of coffee with his hands around it, with no phone near him, no laptop in front of him, and no headphones plugged in his ears. He is sitting with nothing but a cup of coffee. Nothing but his thoughts, his mind, and his eyes looking straight ahead. Every other person in that coffee shop, is either talking on the phone, listening to music while texting and/or scrolling down their screen, or just sitting next to their phone that is plugged in the wall, waiting for it to turn on, not once glancing over the room, and looking at people around them. Some others are just doing what I am doing, working or studying on their laptop.

Every single person in this coffee shop does not know who the person next to them is, and frankly, does not even care to know. The only time they actually saw the people in the room is when they were looking for a place to sit. And when they did, they did not smile, or even say hello to the person in front of them, next to them, or even behind them. Their only focus is on the screen that is in front of them. Robots is what they are and what they look like. They are not the only ones guilty of that, I am too, and you probably are too. If not right in this moment, the moment right before it.

The man siting next to me is the only one in this room that is enjoying himself and living the moment, as we say. he is looking through the huge sets of windows in front of him, actually smiling at the few people who look up while passing by. He is looking at every single person that is passing by and enjoying his surroundings. he is smiling, not only at people who is passing by but to himself as well. He is enjoying himself, and his cup of coffee. Most of us wouldn’t understand what is there to enjoy and it is because we are functioned to only enjoy ourselves during everything but the simple moments.
He made me look up and look ahead and smile too. Smile at being present and alive. Many moments pass by and we do not even notice them. Many people pass by and we do not even see them. People are around us every single day and we don’t even interact with them 90% of the time, unless we have too. We are controlled by those screens. we are controlled by the materialistic things, that we have become unable to enjoy the simple things. Life is about every passing moment. it is about every memory you make every single day that you are present. it is not just about the moments you capture. it is not about the moments where your body was there but your mind wasn’t. it is not about the moments where you were consumed by the screen in front of you.
The man who was sitting next to me just moments ago stood up and looked over at me and told me goodbye. He changed my life because from now on, I will not be a robot, I will be a living being, living every moment passing by. I will, as much as I could, not have the screen consume me but rather be present in each passing moment.
Right after the old man left, a girl came and sat next to me, put her coffee down on the table and immediately held up her phone. The cycle began again but this time, it was not including me. All thanks to this stranger who was living in the moment right next to me.

You are NEVER alone

I have always wondered why is it that we sometimes feel alone? Although, most of the time, we are not alone at all. We might have our family by our side, our friends by our side, or even some might have their significant other by their side. But even though we might have all those people there for us, we still somehow feel alone. We still feel that there is no one there to listen to us. The reason no one is there to listen to those feelings we have, is because we are not necessarily able to put them into words. Sometimes even when we do, we do not even know what it is that we feel. So because this is the case, we think to ourselves, who could be there for me to listen to this “nonsense”?

That is not wrong to feel, you should not blame yourself that you feel the way that you do. It is okay. But, not for too long. What you should do is make yourself feel everything by letting it all out at once. Cry, draw, sing your lungs out, or go for a run. Do whatever it is that allows you to let it all out. But after you do that, you have to get yourself UP. Get yourself back on track, and get whatever it is you need to get done, done. And do not let yourself feel that way again. Don’t give yourself the excuse that you are not getting things done because you feel down.

It is important to know that NO ONE is ever alone, that YOU are never alone. No matter what, you are never alone. Look around you, look at those who care about you the most and want the best for you. That is the case even though you probably give them the least amount of time and attention. Look at those who have been there no matter what the situation was or what time it was, even if sometimes you forgot to thank them for it. Notice those around you because when you do, you will realize you are not alone. Even if you realize there is only one person you can think of that is by your side. The number of people never matters. All that matter in the end is for you to know that no matter how alone you feel, you are NEVER alone. There is always someone out there that loves you and wants what is best for you. There is always someone out there that is thinking about you right this moment, right where you are. There is also always someone else out there that wants to ask about you and know or make sure you are okay. And if you do look around you and you still do not find anyone, which is VERY unlikely, you are still not alone because I think you matter. Even though, you do not know me and I do not know you.

So if you ever feel like you are lonely or alone, remember this: YOU are NEVER alone. There is always someone that cares about you and is there for you no matter what. So look around you and get yourself up and back on track. Because “If you can look up, you can get up”- Les brown.
